Busy Waiting

The past month has been anything but slow; however, I still have found myself in a season of waiting. I want things to happen on my timeline, but I can’t see the full picture of how, when, and why things must happen the way they happen. I must wait for things to happen in His time. He is much better at planning things than I am. I’m so glad that we are invited to wait on the Lord and find our rest in Him. I’ve seen time and again how He works things out so they happen at exactly the right time. Please be praying that I bring to remembrance those times whenever I’m tempted to rush ahead of Him.

Church Partnerships

I have been reaching out to churches over the past couple months to ask if I can share how God has been working in my life. There have been a few closed doors, many who I haven’t received an answer from, but also a few open doors. I’ll be giving a testimony in two churches this month. Please pray that God will:

  • Give me the words He wants me to say

  • Use me to be a blessing to these churches

  • Open hearts and minds to see the work that is set before us, both internationally and near home

  • Open the doors at the additional churches He wants to use me in

Missionary Prayer Group

With classes being back in session at Maranatha Baptist University (MBU), Missionary Prayer Group has begun meeting again. Prayer is essential. It is a privilege and a blessing to gather together with other believers and pray for those who have surrendered their lives to the work of the harvest.

I highly encourage you if your church has a group like this, that you make it a point of joining them, and if they don’t, please pray and consider starting one either formally or informally with others from your church.

If you aren’t sure how to pray for missions in general, BMM has put together a guide called Pray938 that is very well thought out: https://www.bmm.org/pray938. In addition to praying generally, pray for specific missionaries that you know. They could be missionaries your church supports, missionaries the individuals in your group know personally, or missionaries in a particular area of the world that interest the individuals in your group. Read their prayer letters, or reach out to these missionaries to find out what specifically they need prayer for and invest yourself in their ministry through prayer. I promise you that you will be blessed and will be a blessing to those missionaries.

State Street

Another ministry that has started again at MBU is State Street. This ministry involves going to downtown Madison (on State Street) on a Friday night and trying to engage the people there in gospel conversations.

One opportunity my group had was with a young man named J.C. We were able to talk with him for 10 or 15 minutes. J.C. told us that he goes to church every week and was saved, but when we asked him how he knew he would go to heaven, he started telling us it was because he was a good person and about how he helps his family who have a lot of health problems. He also told us that he believes that God wants us to enjoy our life here on earth, and therefore we don’t need to worry if something is sinful or not.

We took him back to Scripture many times trying to show him that all our works mean nothing, and it is only through the completed work of Christ that we can be saved. We also tried to show him Scripture that God doesn’t want us to sin and that He is a holy God. However, there wasn’t any apparent recognition of the truth of God’s Word. Please pray that the seeds of truth would take root in J.C.’s heart and that he would accept Jesus as His Lord and Savior.

Get the Word Out

This past week at Get the Word Out (my sending church’s ministry going door to door in our city), we had nearly twenty people come to be a part of this ministry. It is a blessing to see so many give up their Saturday morning in order to minister. Please be praying that the seeds planted will bear fruit and that laborers will continue to go into the harvest field.

Additional Prayer Requests

My Grandma is currently in the hospital with congestive heart failure and end stage kidney failure. I’m planning a trip to go see her. Please be praying that I have the opportunity to share the gospel and that she would be receptive to Jesus’s gift of salvation.

Please also pray for me and that in the midst of serving Jesus, I would continue to prioritize my relationship with Him.
